Congenital Muscular Torticollis

and Plagiocephaly

There is an increase in the number of referrals of infants with congenital muscular torticollis (CMT) and plagiocephaly in the last 2 decades. OTs and PTs can decrease incidence and shorten duration of CMT by educating expecting parents, early screenings, and early initiation of intervention.

In this webinar, Magda will walk you through a step-by-step examination of infants with suspected CMT which includes, screening for non-muscular causes using a differential diagnosis, examining body structures, obtaining cervical range of motion & muscle strength, and cranial measurements. She will guide participants through current research and APTA CMT guidelines. She will also provide resources to help you determine prognosis and treatment frequency, as well as for home programs. Strategies for successful assessment via telehealth will also be shared. She will utilize case studies, images and videos to illustrate these various concepts.

BONUS - PRACTICAL TOOLKIT: You will leave the course with a list of evidence-informed assessment tools with links, and resources with links so you can apply what you learned to your caseload right away.
